A New Zealand fashion story

From humble beginnings hawking unusual hand-made ties on the streets in Wellington, Rixon Groove has grown into a boutique manufacturer and retailer of fine shirts, waistcoats and accessories, while still providing customers with the wide range of unique ties that have become our trademark.

Rixon Groove started by hand-sewing ties from funky, unusual fabrics and selling them direct to customers on the streets of Wellington. The ties were immediately well-received for their quality and unique design. The first Rixon Groove fashion store was opened on Woodward Street in the heart of New Zealand’s capital in 1991. There it prospered, expanding the range from ties and accessories to high quality, made-to-measure business and casual shirts.

After ten years, Rixon Groove moved from Woodward Street into the Old Bank Shopping Arcade, situated in the historic, beautifully refurbished 100-year old Bank of New Zealand building on the corner of Lambton Quay and Willis Street. Here our tradition of superior service and locally made limited edition ties and made-to-measure shirts continues.
